Laser inscription:
Most lab-grown diamonds have a laser inscription on the girdle, which is the widest part of the diamond. The inscription will include the initials of the lab that created the diamond, as well as a unique identification number.

Colour:
Lab-grown diamonds are typically colourless, while mined diamonds can be yellow, brown, or even black. However, there are now lab-grown diamonds that are available in a variety of colours, including fancy yellow and pink.

Clarity:
Lab-grown diamonds are typically free of inclusions, while mined diamonds often have inclusions, which are small internal flaws. However, there are now lab-grown diamonds that are available with inclusions.

UV fluorescence:
Lab-grown diamonds typically fluoresce blue under ultraviolet light, while mined diamonds can fluoresce in a variety of colours, including blue, yellow, and orange.

Price:
Lab-grown diamonds are typically much less expensive than mined diamonds.
If you are still unsure whether a diamond is lab grown, you can take it to a gemological laboratory for testing. The laboratory will be able to use specialised equipment to determine the origin of the diamond.
